There is a fascinating story to the Cambodia gambling halls that reside just across the dividing line from neighboring Thailand, in which gambling den wagering is not permitted. Eight gambling dens are established in a relatively small area in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling dens is in a prime spot, a three to four hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the two largest betting locations in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a thriving business with Thai workers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The amazing capital gained from the gambling halls ranges from $7.5 million to more than 12.5 million, and there are a number of limitations requirements for gambling den ownership. Ownership is required to be mainly Thai; however, investment sources are vague. The borders are ceremoniously open from 0900 to 17:00, and though visas are apparently required to pass, there are means around this, as is correct of many border crossings.

The first Cambodia gambling halls premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving only 1 gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary barge gambling hall, contains 150 slot machine games and 60 table games. The Naga river boat is open all hours with forty two tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, 4 tables of 21, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The first gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown soon followed. There are one hundred and fifty slot machine games and five tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machines and sixty eight gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features 300 slots and 70 table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slots and ninety six table games, including eighty seven baccarat banque (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machine games and 66 of the common gaming tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the eight gambling dens in Poipet, again a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machine games and ninety seven casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a comprehensive vacation and hotel complex that highlights many comforts aside from the casino, which offers 10,000 square feet of one hundred and thirty slot machine games and eighty eight gaming tables.
