Cambodia Gambling Halls
Wednesday, 3. April 2019
There is an appealing story to the Cambodia casinos that lie just across the border from nearby Thailand, in which gambling hall gambling is prohibited. Eight gambling halls are established in a generally small location in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia casinos is in a prime destination, a 3 to four hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 most popular betting locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai laborers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very couple of Westerners. The phenomenal capital acquired from the gambling halls ranges from seven and a half million dollars to over 12.5 million dollars, and there are a few controls requirements for gambling den ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mainly Thai; however, investment sources are vague. The borders are officially open from 09:00 to 17:00, and though visas are apparently necessary to cross, there are means around this, as is true of many borders.
The initial Cambodia gambling dens premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving just one gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a docked barge gambling hall, features 150 slot machines and sixty table games. The Naga gambling den is open all hours with 42 tables of mini-baccarat, 4 tables of twenty-one, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The initial gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown quickly followed. There are one hundred and fifty slots and five table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four one armed bandits and 68 table games at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features three hundred slot machines and seventy gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machines and 96 gaming tables, including eighty seven baccarat chemin de fer (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 one armed bandits and sixty six of the familiar gaming tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the eight gambling halls in Poipet, also in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slots and ninety seven table games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an all-around resort and hotel building that highlights many amenities accompanying the casino, which contains ten thousand sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty slot machines and 88 tables.
